What are the benefits of spring cleaning? Get to all those jobs you've been putting off!
Spring Cleaning is something we're all likely to hear about at some point around this year. You'll either be inspired to get those sleeves rolled up and get cleaning, decluttering and uncovering all manner of horrors lurking behind furniture that hasn't been moved since last years' impromptu 'Spring Clean', or you'll be completely filled with dread at the prospect of having to deal with any of that and hope that you have no reason to move the bedside table until at least when the evenings start to get dark again - and claim plausible deniability that you couldn't see any of that dust in the dim light in any case.
Some people find a good Spring Clean almost therapeutic. The process of getting rid of all the 'stuff' that just seems to have accumulated and hung around can feel like - as with the new life in nature that spring brings - that they are reborn and able to take on all kinds of new challenges and are set up to triumph in the months ahead. As indeed they ought to be, those fearless Spring Cleaners. Others, of course, might like to call people like us at Neika Cleaning Services to get all that deep cleaning done for them - and we'd actively encourage you to!
Spring Cleaning your home, office or workplace can have all sorts of benefits!
Reduce stress and anxiety
Well maybe not as you're doin it, but clearing, decluttering and cleaning can create a sense of order and control that helps you feel more balanced in the environment you are in.
Help with focus
By removing 'stuff' from the environment you are living or working in it helps you keep focus, rather than being distracted and procrastinating. In fact some of your best spring cleaning can happen while procrastinating and avoiding getting those important things done (my office is immaculate after putting off writing this blog for several days!)
Improve air quality
Spring Cleaning gets to all of those hard to reach places where dust and allergens gather and pollute your environment. Have you ever moved your PC at work to find dust caked on the cables?). Bright sunny spring days with some warmer weather tantalizingly close is also a great time to fling those windows open and get a blast of fresh air circulating. As a rule it is said that if you wouldn't hang your washing out to dry then keep windows closed, as it could be too cool and damp to offer any real benefit and only increase moisture and damp inside.
Increase productivity
A clean and tidy home or workplace is just a much nicer place to be - and with that means you're more able to get on with the task at hand (without the reasons to procrastinate that we've already alluded to). A tidy environment is just more efficient.
Where to focus on when spring cleaning:
When you get caught up in the urge to go for that spring clean, here's a few areas that you might like to add to the list:
Move the bed! Under the bed is a huge dust trap and area that clutter builds up
Behind furniture that doesn't get moved often.
Plug holes and traps - hair and all sorts of stuff can start to clog up your plugholes and slow drainage, and could increase chances of flooding if left for too long.
High level dusting. Those areas that are above head-height that are out-of-sigh-out-of-mind for most of the time.
Inside kitchen cupboards. These can gather dust and even grease and are high use areas.
Carpets. You'll often need to get a professional service to clean carpets, but for smaller rooms or to deal with the odd stain, you can readily hire carpet cleaning machines yourself.
Windows - inside and out
Curtains and blinds. These can get dusty and dirty and could do with a regular once over.
Washing machines. Regular cleaning of your washing machine helps remove build up of cleaning products and limescale to keep your laundry fresh and your machine in good order.
Descaling kettles
